Shawn B. Hocker, MD
Board-Eligible Orthopedic Surgeon
Dual Fellowship in Sports Medicine and Adult Joint Reconstruction
Dr. Shawn Hocker is board-eligible by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. He is a specialist in Sports Medicine and Total Joint Replacement. Dr. Hocker received his undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina and his medical degree from the University of North Carolina School of Medicine. He completed an orthopedic surgery residency at Duke University Medical Center and a dual fellowship in Sports Medicine and Adult Joint Reconstruction from the University of Utah.
While at UNC, he was Captain of the 1993 Tar Heel Football Team and in 1994, played for the NFL's San Diego Chargers.
Dr. Hocker has a special interest in arthroscopic surgery and joint replacement of the shoulder, hip and knee. He has helped to develop one of the current operating computer navigation systems used for total knee replacement surgery.
Dr. Hocker enjoys travel, SCUBA, skiing, fishing and kayaking. He and his wife Coo enjoy raising and spending time with their daughter.
