Referrals
 Some health plans have specific rules you must follow in order to be seen by a specialist. If your health insurance company requires a referral from a primary care physician, remember that it is your responsibility to provide us with the necessary referral information and documents. You must have this referral information with you during your initial appointment to be seen by the doctor.

Musculoskeletal Diagnostic Imaging Center
Atlantic Orthopedics offers advanced accredited MRI Imaging Services at our main 3787 Shipyard Boulevard office in Wilmington. This state-of-the-art facility offers complete MRI services, eliminating a patient’s need to make multiple appointments at different locations. MRI services are performed in a comfortable, private suite under the guidance of skilled and highly-trained MRI Technologists. For your convenience, we are open Monday-Saturday, with evening appointments available.
Atlantic Orthopedics is the only orthopedic group in southeastern North Carolina to have been awarded a Certificate of Need to operate fixed site MRI services within its facility by the Department of Health and Human Services.
- Scans are available Monday-Saturday plus evening appointments.
- STAT scans can be scheduled immediately by the ordering physician.
- Scans are performed by experienced technologists in our ACR-accredited facility and read by board-certified, fellowship-trained musculoskeletal, neuro and body radiologists.
- Normal report turnaround in 24-48 hours; STAT scans sooner.
- Our MRI suite is designed to admit filtered natural light, creating an open, airy and calming environment.
- We accept most commercial health insurance plans, BCBS and Medicare.
- We also accept major credit cards and can make financing arrangements.
- Our Imaging Center is conveniently located at 3787 Shipyard Boulevard, Wilmington.
Referring Physicians: We appreciate your referring your patient to our MRI service and we will do our very best to provide you and your patient with the highest quality of service for their MRI. For your convenience, MRI’s can be scheduled Monday-Saturday and on evenings. We understand that on occasion patient will need a STAT MRI. For STAT referrals, please call MRI Scheduling direct at: 910-332-1585.
 To Refer a Patient for an MRI, please click on and print out the MRI order form below. Once completed, please fax the order to the MRI Department at 910-332-1582. One of our staff members will contact you to help schedule your patient for an MRI.
Reports: Our reports are read only by fellowship trained radiologists meaning you will receive a high quality interpretation and report for your patients musculoskeletal, neuro or body scan.
Normal reports are faxed back to your office within 24 hours; STAT scans can be much sooner.
